Professor Usha Menon
Professor Usha Menon is Professor of Gynaecological Oncology at the MRC Clinical Trials Unit at University College London, UK. She has over 320 publications, majority of which are on ovarian and endometrial cancer screening, risk stratification and management and on biomarkers/longitudinal algorithms for early detection of a number of cancers. She leads one of the largest randomised controlled trials to date – the UK Collaborative Trial of Ovarian Cancer Screening (UKCTOCS). A core interest is ensuring access and sustainablility of the trial biobanks with over half a million well-annotated donated samples – these have to date supported numerous cancer biomarker projects and resulted in a UCL spin-out company. Current efforts also include working with academics in India to improve the clinical trials ecosystem in the country and support set up of academic clinical research units. Previous work includes the UK Familial Ovarian Cancer Screening Study, UK Ovarian Cancer Population Study, International Cancer Benchmarking Partnership Module 4 and UK Gynaecological Oncology Surgical Outcomes and Complications study.
