Protector

Dr Faiza Gaba (MBBS, MRCOG)

I am undertaking a PhD in targeted surgical prevention of ovarian cancer at Barts Cancer Institute - a Cancer Research UK Centre of Excellence. My research as part of my PhD will be focusing on various surgical ovarian cancer prevention strategies. This will involve prospectively collecting quantitative and qualitative data within a clinical trial setting as well as cost-effective analysis. I am the study coordinator for the PROTECTOR trial (salpingectomy for ovarian cancer prevention in increased risk women), RRESDO Survey Study (attitudes towards salpingectomy for ovarian cancer prevention in increased risk women) and PROMISE Feasibility Study (feasibility of population based risk prediction and stratification for targeted ovarian cancer screening and surgical prevention).

In addition to my research work, I am a core member of the Women's Precision Medicine & Cancer Prevention team at Barts Health NHS Trust.

I qualified as a Doctor in 2010 from Hull York Medical School and commenced specialist training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in 2012. I have completed the first four years of my specialist training in Aberdeen and Dundee before stepping out of programme to persue my reasearch interests.

After completing my PhD, I intend to pursue further clinical training in Gynaecological Oncology Surgery.

When not at work, I enjoy long distance running and travel.
